an essay on LIGHT - a process

the thing about art is it comes full circle. what makes art a human expression is heart and soul. and while these two things are innate art is the process of connection and expressing these two things. we exist as one, expression is one, a collective, we sometimes forget, LIGHT IS BINDING, the darkest night cannot refuse light, it yields, parts, gives way, LIGHT is our birth rite.

LIGHT does not mean all will be sunshine and rainbows, but something that brings us to our knees, LIGHT is a harsh truth, heart rattling chest thumping god dam skip a beat skip a step stumbling truth, LIGHT brings us out of ignorance, it can be cold it can be warm but it will bring us to present, NOW.

this photoshoot, near and dear to my heart, was one of creative grounding, one of defining self, stepping into deeper waters, opening up to the universe and asking, asking more of myself, who i am who i want to be and who i deserve to be. there’s so much more i could write but honestly words will not satisfy, i’ll leave this with a warmth, a mile marker and as a ray of LIGHT on a stormy sea.

these images were shot on 35mm film, scans enlarged and printed on acetate paper and then transferred using a thick alcohol based gel to pull the image from the acetate and unto heavy water color paper that was primed with gold acrylic. Three total prints produced: (1) 18X24 (2) 11X15

ART is about authenticity, what moves us, what we have to say, what we have to say, i haven’t said or felt anything that hasn’t been said or felt before, or even done but i say it in my way, in gold, in warmth, black and white.
